YUDICA DEFENDS FLYWEIGHT TITLE

In the flyweight division, Leonela Paola Yudica made the 5th straight defense of her IBF title in her home country of Argentina.

Yudica, (13-0) dominated her contest against Japan’s Yunoka Furukawa and ruled the scorecards at scores of 100-90 twice and 99-91.

The Argentine turned professional in 2012 and won the IBF title in December 2014 with a win over Gabriela Bouvier.

win over Hekkie Budler in September 2017 and has held the title since winning the interim version in November 2016 over Sakkreerin Jr.  and defending twice over Akira Yaegashi in May 2017 and Budler last month.

HURD WINS FIRST DEFENSE OF JR. MIDDLEWEIGHT TITLE OVER TROUT

Jarret Hurd went up against one time IBF title challenger Austin Trout at the Barcaly’s Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Hurd, (21-0, 15KO), who knocked out Tony Harrison in February 2017 for the vacant IBF title, took on Trout in his first defense of the IBF title and mostly dominated Trout due to his age (27), ability and strength en route to a 10th round stoppage win.  Hurd fought through a cut above his left eye from an accidental head butt.

“We knew we were going to wear Austin Trout down in the later rounds and eventually stop him. My cut made me a little better with my head movement. I’m always a slow starter. Trout was good in the beginning, but I showed that it’s tough trying to go the distance with Jarrett Hurd. The cut over my left eye came early in the seventh round from an accidental head butt, but I feel like that actually helped force me to move my head better. Team Swift, we don’t run from anyone.”
